The abolition of roaming has triggered the number of Spaniards traveling through Europe used their mobile phone more or the same as in Spain, especially mobile Internet. For example, 43% used their telephone to consult the Internet in Europe more or as in Spain, while in 2016 this percentage was 25%.
In the case of calls, 26% said they used the mobile phone to call on their trips as they did in Spain when in 2016 the percentage was half.
In spite of everything, around 30% of Spaniards who traveled through Europe did not use their mobile phone (neither to call, nor to connect to the Internet), according to the latest data from the CNMC.
Use of the mobile phone in other European countries compared to the use made in Spain (percentage of individuals)
Spaniards who have contracted a postpaid mobile phone line out of a bundled offer spent practically the same as in 2016. Postpaid mobile telephony spending per individual exceeded, on average, 14 euros per month.
In the case of non-packaged fixed telephone lines, the expense increased by 5.6% to 18.3 euros per month.
