With the WhatsApp Business app and new service, small businesses can now communicate directly with their customers in countries such as Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, the US and the UK ahead of a worldwide launch that will follow over the coming weeks.

Tests in India and Brazil (the largest WhatsApp markets) gave a first taste and KLM was the first European partner to try hard.

The WhatsApp Business app will initially be available only for Android and is aimed at small businesses. Features such as company profiles, news tools, automated responses such as FAQs, and out-of-office messages can help the pizza service, hairdresser, or garage keep in touch with their customers.

For example, more than 80% of the population in Brazil already uses WhatsApp for communication with companies.
