Wi-Fi 6E allows access to a new frequency band – 6 GHz – in addition to the traditional 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, and the Freebox Delta will therefore now use all three bands: 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz.

The extended spectrum that Wi-Fi 6E offers will:
• Give optimal coverage within households by enabling more devices to be connected to the same network simultaneously without reducing speeds.
• Ensure better connection in high-density Wi-Fi environments as there are no congestion problems with Wi-Fi 6E because the new frequency band isn’t used much yet.

Thanks to the integration work of Free’s R&D team, Freebox Delta Fiber subscribers with Wi-Fi 6E-compatible devices will be able to have download speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps, which is up to three times faster than Wi-Fi 5** (shared speed measured on two devices connected simultaneously).

With the new Server, Freebox Delta subscribers will have an optimal user experience, combining the best Wi-Fi and the fastest Fiber (for speeds in 2021)*, notably thanks to 10G-EPON technology.

10G-EPON technology – which is available to subscribers who have a Freebox Delta – is currently provided by Free via more than 27 million fiber sockets in France.

Free is also proposing this new Server to ADSL subscribers, which means they will be able to enjoy optimal connectivity as soon as they are eligible for Fiber.

The Freebox Delta plan including Wi-Fi 6E is available as of today for new subscribers through all of our subscription channels: in Free stores, on the free.fr website and by phone.
Existing Freebox Delta subscribers will be able to get the new Freebox Delta Server during the summer (at a cost of €49 for changing their Server).

The Freebox Delta plan (with the Pop Player included) is staying at the same price
– €39.99/month for one year and then €49.99/month – once again in line with Free’s strategy of including the latest innovations in its plans without increasing their cost.
