These users will now be able to benefit from Truphone’s seamless method of downloading and managing an eSIM data plan—allowing consumers to get connected quickly and easily without the hassle of having to change SIM cards or scan QR codes when they arrive at another country.
My Truphone for Android is an ideal solution for world travellers, international business jet-setters, or even just individuals curious about simplifying how they connect to their mobile network operator.
To celebrate the launch, Truphone is offering 100MB of data completely free to new customers to try out the app.
The use of the eSIM feature allows consumers the convenience of cellular connectivity without the need for a physical SIM card. This offers the benefit of having different cellular plans for personal, business and roaming use on a single device.
Truphone’s My Truphone solution allows customers to download an eSIM profile over the air to their device and is engineered to make connectivity simple for Android users. With an eSIM-enabled device, consumers can enjoy out-of-the-box connectivity, without having to buy a SIM card separately. A user can just turn their device on, download the data plan of their choosing, and get online. eSIM is currently enabled in the last two generations of Google Pixel devices and is expected to become a staple in all other major Android 10-enabled flagship smartphones over the next 12 months.
The My Truphone app for the Pixel is at the time of publication listed on Google Play stores in 107 countries* including Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Spain, United Kingdom and the United States. We will be extending availability to more territories in the coming months. Similarly, as the number of eSIM enabled devices expand to other manufacturers’ models, so too will the My Truphone app for Android.
Ralph Steffens, Truphone CEO said, “We are thrilled to be able to launch My Truphone to Android users. This launch, alongside the recent launch of the latest iteration of the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, signals a surge in the market towards eSIM becoming the preferred standard in SIM technology by leading device manufacturers. We are looking forward to working with Google to bring this highly sought-after technology to the hands of consumers.”
