The Argentinian government has launched a plan to install 4G-LTE and Wi-Fi connections in 196 tourist destinations currently lacking fast broadband services, reports La Nacion. The “Tourism Connectivity” project was unveiled by modernisation minister Andres Ibarra and tourism secretary Gustavo Santos at the FIT international tourism fair in Buenos Aires.
“Tourism Connectivity” project aims to connect 223 sites that are divided into 196 locations that were identified as priorities.
These districts include Tafí del Valle (Tucumán), Purmamarca, Bariloche and El Bolsón (Río Negro), Perito Moreno (Santa Cruz), Villa La Angostura and San Martín de los Andes (Neuquén), Cafayate (Salta), Quiaca (Jujuy), San Rafael (Mendoza), Concordia and Paraná (Entre Ríos), Puerto Iguazú (Misiones) and Martín García Island (Buenos Aires), among others.
The plan includes the extension to 63 locations of Arsat connections in the framework of the Federal Internet Plan, which will improve the service. And mobile Internet will be provided to 172 points, mainly those places that do not have 3G or 4G service, such as El Chaltén (Santa Cruz)
In addition, wi-fi coverage will be provided to 53 locations (of which 29 already have facilities), 116 tourist information centers and 15 typical festivities of each place. argentina lte
