Smart launches 5G roaming service in Taiwan with FarEasTone
Smart Communications has partnered with FarEasTone Telecommunications to roll out international connectivity for 5g mobile subscribers.
With the tie-up, Smart roamers can access a variety of data roaming plans that suit their needs while abroad.
“Even as travel ground to a halt because of the pandemic, Smart remained steadfast in its dedication to provide an improved roaming customer experience,” said Alice Ramos, VP for international roaming and consumer at Smart.
The launch of Smart’s 5G roaming service in Taiwan follows the roaming agreement Smart entered into with KT Corp.
Taiwan and South Korea number among the world’s top three countries for best 5G experience in a February 2021 report by mobile analytics and insights research company Opensignal.
Smart further expanded the reach of its 5G network nationwide by rolling out more 5G sites.
To date, Smart has fired up more than 1,400 5G sites across the country as part of its ongoing 5G rollout, by far the most extensive in the country.
The new sites include Benguet, Misamis Oriental and Zamboanga Sibugay. These are in addition to 5G sites deployed in all of Metro Manila’s cities and municipalities, as well as in the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Pampanga, Rizal, Cebu, Iloilo, Aklan, and Davao.
