Slovenia’s mobile network usage is relatively high compared to many other countries in Europe and around the world. According to a report by the European Commission, the percentage of the population using mobile broadband in Slovenia was 71% in 2020, which is above the EU average of 64%. This suggests that mobile networks are an important part of the communication infrastructure in Slovenia and are widely used by the population.

Significant increase in mobile data usage around the world Slovenia Mobile data roaming

The trends observed in the data from Slovenia’s mobile network usage are part of broader global patterns. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in mobile data usage around the world, driven by the widespread adoption of smartphones and the growing availability of high-speed mobile networks. This has led to a decline in traditional voice calling and SMS messaging, as more people turn to message apps and social media to communicate.

The shift towards mobile data usage is particularly pronounced among younger people, who are more likely to use their phones for browsing the internet, streaming video, and engaging with social media. This trend is likely to continue as mobile networks become faster and more reliable, and as new technologies such as 5G are rolled out around the world.

In summary, while Slovenia’s mobile network usage is higher than average compared to many other countries, the trends observed in the data are part of broader global patterns. As mobile networks become increasingly important for communication and internet access, we can expect to see continued growth in mobile data usage and a decline in traditional voice calling and SMS messaging.
