Buying a Sim Card in Belgium

Local SIM Cards: Belgium has several mobile operators, including Orange, Proximus, and BASE. These operators offer prepaid and postpaid plans, which can be purchased at their stores, authorized retailers, or online.

SIM cards in Belgium are readily available and can be purchased at a low cost. On average, a prepaid SIM card costs around €10 to €20, which includes a set amount of data, minutes, and texts.

The Belgian parliament has approved legislation requiring that every SIM card be registered. Identification of prepaid users takes place in two ways:

  • When the SIM card is bought in a shop, the customer’s ID card or passport will be scanned and their data transmitted to the operator.
  • When bought online, identification is made via the customer’s e-identity card, e-signature, certified contract or e-payment transaction with a Belgian bank account

When purchasing a sim card, it is recommended to avoid buying an expensive one at the airport or in the last minute, as prices tend to be higher and you may be limited in your options.  Travel to BELGIUM?

Belgium tourism

Whether you’re looking for a weekend break or a longer trip, Belgium has a lot to offer to tourists. Situated in the middle of Western Europe, Belgium combines magnificent countryside with a wealth of culture, comfort food and charming medieval towns. At the heart of everything is Brussels. Despite being the headquarters of the European Union, the city has retained its own unique culture. Awe-inspiring architecture includes the Grand Palace, Gothic town hall and Laeken Castle – the official residence of the Belgian royals. Bruges is one of the most popular cities to visit outside the capital. Most of its 14th-century architecture is still intact, giving you the sense you’ve somehow travelled back in time. Ghent is also rich in medieval monuments and is less busier than Bruges in the peak seasons. Antwerp, the Diamond Capital of the World, is also renowned for nightlife, fashion and art scene.

There are over 10,000 hotels in the country, with the majority being located in cities such as Brussels and Bruges. Average hotel prices vary depending on the location and time of year, but prices can range from €70 to €200 per night.

Belgium is served by several domestic airlines, including Brussels Airlines, and is also served by several international airlines such as Lufthansa, Ryanair, and EasyJet.
