OnePlus introduces ‘affordable’ Nord smartphone with six cameras for €399

OnePlus has unveiled its new ‘affordable’ smartphone, the OnePlus Nord. oneplus nord
It comes with high-end features like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor with 5G and the same 48-megapixel camera as on the OnePlus 8, for the lower price of EUR 399.  The phone is available for purchase in a ‘pop-up’ online sale 21 July (buy it here) and will go on sale officially 04 August.

OnePlus has traditionally released two sets of smartphones every year for a while now, before that it was just a single phone each year. However, there was one exception in 2015, when the company tried making a more affordable version of their smartphone.

However, this OnePlus X was the only of its kind, until now.

While OnePlus Nord definitely seems like a spiritual successor to the OnePlus X, it actually isn’t that at all. There are number of reasons they chose to not name the new phone OnePlus Z, as intially rumored.

Most importantly, unlike the X, OnePlus Nord is packed with features. This is due to the fact that OnePlus flagship phones have become more premium products with a much higher price tag that in 2015. Thus the more affordable phone is more expensive as well.

OnePlus Nord is equipped with a 5G-enabled Snadpragon 765G chipset, quad camera in the back, dual camera up front, and a 6.44 inch, 20:9 and 2400×1080 90 hz OLED (they call it Fluid AMOLED) screen.

Quad camera setup includes three actual shooters: a 48 MP primary camera similar to the OnePlus 8 (except f/1.75 as opposed to f/1.8), a 8 MP f/2.25 ultra wide angle (119°) camera, and a 2 MP f/2.4 macro camera. In addition there’s a 5 MP depth sensor and dual LED flash.

At the front you have two selfie shooters: a 32 MP fixed focus shooter and a 8 MP ultra wide angle (105°). Both feature an aperture of f/2.45.

Both front and back cameras take 4K video, although oddly only the selfie camera supports 4K@60fps. At the back there’s OIS on the primary camera and night mode (Nightscape) both primary and ultra wide camera.

You also get a fairly sizable 4115 mAh battery with super fast Warp Charge 30T that charges the battery to over 60% in 30 minutes.

OnePlus Nord comes available on August 8 in two versions, 8/128GB and 12/256GB and both versions have LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.1 storage, and two color options, Blue Marble and Gray Onyx. Prices start at 399 euros for the 8/128GB version and 499 euros for the 12/256GB version.

The phone will be released first in Asia and Europe. However, unfortunately there’s no word yet on the US release date but it should happen later this year.
