After o2 Slovakia made the fully digital eSIM service available to new O2 Paušálov customers in November last year, from February 4, all customers who have been using any O2 Paušál or O2 Fér service for a long time can activate their eSIM in the O2 application for free. In the coming months, O2 will also make eSIM available to customers of the O2 Voľnosť prepaid card. The biggest advantage of eSIM over a traditional physical SIM card is security. The customer cannot lose it, and it can be blocked more quickly if the phone is stolen.

How to activate an eSIM as a regular customer

Current O2 customers who use any O2 Paušál or O2 Fér can conveniently install an eSIM via their O2 application. A new tab has been added to the More menu – Install eSIM. The customer is then verified via SMS and email. After verification, the customer can install the eSIM. After the installation is complete, the customer will see information about the PIN and PUK codes on the smartphone screen. During the installation, a document with an eSIM QR code is sent to the customer’s contact email, with which the customer can manually install the eSIM on the device at any time later. The entire installation process takes approximately 5 minutes.

How to activate an eSIM as a new customer

Last year, O2 fully digitized and simplified the eSIM service for new customers. After installing the O2 application, a new customer enters their contact details and then chooses from the O2 flat-rate offer, which the application clearly displays. In the next step, they select an eSIM. After verifying their email address, they go through a check, where the application prompts them to enter their ID card details and take a picture of their face, which the system then compares with their ID.

The customer then chooses a payment method. He then proceeds to the contract signing section, where he will find all mandatory and optional documents, including the future contract. The customer signs the contract electronically and finally installs the eSIM on his device by pressing a single button. The entire process takes the customer approximately 10 minutes, and he can start using O2 services immediately after completion.

From February 4, 2025, the operator is also offering an attractive offer as part of the O2 TOGETHER campaign: when purchasing selected 5G smartphones, customers will receive a protective glass and a case for just €1. The discounted prices apply to five smartphone models, and the offer is available to new and existing customers who use O2 services, whether with a flat rate or when purchasing in cash.
