KLM Offers Customers Complimentary Travel Data With Flexiroam

To enjoy the promotion, travellers need to book their flights via klm.com.my and after which, register their details at my.klmcontests.com by 15 October 2017. Customers will then receive a promotional code to redeem their complimentary Flexiroam X Starter Pack, which comprises a Flexiroam X Microchip and 100mb of roaming data.
Offering an extremely convenient data option for travel, Flexiroam provides roaming data without the hassle of switching SIM cards or the need to return a rented pocket Wi-Fi device after a trip. To access the Internet overseas, a Flexiroam X microchip simply needs to be attached to a user’s existing local SIM.

Data in the microchip can be used in more than 100 countries, making it the perfect option for multi-country trips.

The Flexiroam X Starter Pack would be available for redemption at the Flexiroam kiosk in KLIA 1. Alternatively, KLM customers can also enjoy doorstep delivery at just US$4.
This promotion is the first in a year-long partnership agreement signed between KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Flexiroam.

The promotion follows a series of KLM initiatives aimed at enhancing the customer experience while keeping pace with the modern traveller’s expectations for flexible digital travel planning.
In recent months, KLM strengthened its social media strategy to make the payment of flights and pre-flight tracking even easier for travellers. Customers can now pay for flights using WeChat Pay, and flight status updates can be accessed with a touch of a button on platforms including Twitter and Whatsapp.
Most recently, in partnership with GetYourGuide, KLM launched the option for its customers to book tours and activities directly on KLM’s platforms.

KLM is continuing to improve the connected travel experience by making inflight WiFi easier to discover, arrange, and use.

Travellers who see a WiFi logo while booking their trip, checking flight details, or boarding their aircraft can stay connected during the flight, even thousands of feet above the ground. Depending on the aircraft and route, KLM passengers can use inflight WiFi to:

  • Stay in touch with friends and family
  • Send and receive messages
  • Check the latest flight status
  • Browse online, depending on the selected pass
  • Book activities for their destination through the onboard portal

KLM offers several WiFi options depending on the flight. If WiFi is available, passengers can buy a WiFi pass during check-in or once onboard. The price depends on the type of pass selected and the duration of the flight.

Flying Blue members receive additional benefits. They can use the Message Pass for free, while WiFi Pass access is also available free of charge on flights within Europe. Travellers who are not yet Flying Blue members can sign up at any time, including during the flight.

To connect, passengers simply need to:

  • Switch their device to aeroplane mode
  • Connect to the aircraft’s WiFi network
  • Follow the instructions shown on screen
  • Open the onboard portal once connected
  • Activate a Message Pass or purchase a WiFi pass if they have not already done so

The onboard portal also gives passengers access to useful travel services, including flight updates and destination activity booking.

KLM notes that inflight WiFi is not available on every aircraft. Passengers are advised to check My Trip or the KLM app before travelling to see whether WiFi will be available on their flight. If something goes wrong with a purchased WiFi pass, passengers can request a refund through KLM.

The update fits into KLM’s broader digital travel strategy. The airline has been steadily adding services that make the journey more flexible and connected, including:

  • Mobile flight updates
  • Digital payment options
  • Messaging-based customer support
  • Destination activity booking
  • Inflight connectivity
