How to use a smartphone (iPhone/Android) as a mobile hotspot

The coronavirus is forcing people to work from home. We all need a stable internet connection to be able to work, communicate with colleagues, friends, or family, and entertain. Smartphone Mobile HotSpot (SMHS) – also referred to as Wi-Fi Sharing or tethering – lets you securely share your device’s Internet connection with up to 10 Wi-Fi-enabled devices. While your smartphone is a mobile hotspot, you can still make and receive calls and texts on your phone.

First, open “Settings” on your iPhone then tap “Personal Hotspot.” Here, switch the toggle next to “Allow Others to Join” to turn on your hotspot. After turning on, you will find the name of your hotspot under “To Connect Using Wi-Fi,” and the password next to “Wi-Fi Password.” If you tap on “Wi-Fi Password,” you can customize — of course! — your password. Enter this information on the other device to connect to your hotspot. Voila!

First, open “Settings,” tap “Connections” and select “Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.” Here, tap “Mobile Hotspot” and toggle the switch to on. Towards the bottom of the screen, you will see the name of your hotspot and the password needed to connect to your device. If you want to change the default settings, you can enter your preferred name or password.

T-Mobile’s President of Technology, Neville Raysome says T-mobile’ve been seeing some shifts across the network as customers continue to stay connected:

Mobile hotspot +60%
Collaboration tools +87%
Edu tools +135%
Video games +85%
Food delivery apps +23%

Now you’re ready to get the most out of your plan and start using your smartphone’s mobile hotspot.

What are you waiting for? Get connected!
