BNESIM – International SIM card/eSIM for 200+ countries

With over 120 Terabytes consumed by their users in 200+ countries every month, BNESIM is the app that keeps travelers, business people, remote workers, and devices connected

There are now a number of roaming solutions for travel outside the EU – either in the form of a roaming SIM card or a roaming hotspot. One of these solutions that deserves attention is BNESIM.

BNESIM is a global roaming-free mobile operator which offers worldwide data, voice and video calls for consumers, enterprises and IoT devices, allowing global travellers to save up to 95% on roaming charges. BNESIM was World’s Leading Travel Communications Provider for 2019 and 2020 and is nominated this year too.

With BNESIM, you can activate multiple landline, mobile, and toll-free numbers from 100+ countries, all together on the same BNESIM account, in seconds. Your incoming calls can be terminated on the BNESIM app, a desktop phone, the voicemail, forwarded to other phone numbers, or even to a conference room.

The BNESIM app can be downloaded from the Play Store for Android devices and App Store for iOS devices.

To get BNESIM card do this steps:

1. Download the app to get started.

2. Sign-up by following a few simple steps.

3. Tap I DON’T HAVE A SIM CARD.

4. Tap NEXT.

5. Select the shipment method you want to use.

6. Type in your address and contact number.

7. Tap GET and then hit the green button on the payment confirmation pop-up.

When your SIM arrives, activate it by following the in-app step-by-step guide, and you’re good to go.

Choosing the right tariff

On its tariff overview, BNESIM offers on the one hand preconfigured package tariffs for Europe, Asia or the USA, which include minutes, SMS and data volume. There are also SIM cards, which are intended for worldwide use, and prepaid cards, with which a previously loaded credit can simply be called or surfed.

Interested parties should therefore know roughly in which countries and regions they are and how high the volume of calls or surfing will be before they start their journey. However, it is also possible retrospectively with every SIM to top up credit and book a data package for a region other than the preset. In total, BNESIM can be used in 200 countries around the world.

OPTION 1: Chooose REGIONAL plan for you

Choose between 1GB, 3GB, 5GB, and 12GB high-speed Internet and once your full speed allowance is over, you can still enjoy unlimited Internet at reduced speed (128kbps).

The plan includes a FREE SIM and one international roaming-free number. You can activate the one you prefer for free for one month. The subscription renews automatically after one month at the full price.

Europe SIM includes 31 country; Asia data plan covers 19 countries in Asia and Middle East data plan covers 11 Middle Eastern countries and most expensive plan with 12 GB is €69

Calls can be made free of charge between SIM cards from BNESIM, and internal SMS sending does not cost anything. Outside of BNESIM, an SMS costs as much as a minute, the sending of SMS is also counted towards the minute quota.

OPTION 4 – eSIM

Top reasons to use BNESIM eSIM if you have compatible phone : instant delivery, instant connectivity, great prices.

A marketplace offering the widest choice of data plans from multiple operators so you can always get the best tariffs and coverage. Unlimited eSIM profiles available on the same device for limitless connectivity.

Important: Account only active for six months without topping up

If the SIM card is not actively used for more than six months, the account will be frozen and calls will no longer be possible, not even incoming calls. The customer must therefore book at least one option at least twice a year and top up credit for it beforehand. The cheapest package costs 9 euros and includes 50 minutes. In order to keep the SIM card permanently usable, you have to invest at least 18 euros a year. After a minimum top-up, the previously frozen account will be reactivated – off course if you didn’t buy plan with no expiration.

BNESIM includes detailed instructions in English with the SIM card. The SIM, which is supplied in all three formats, must first be inserted into the smartphone. It can then take several minutes for the SIM to log into the local partner network. In any case, both the mobile data network and data roaming must be activated in the mobile phone beforehand.

Registration: No personal documents required

In the test, we didn’t have to enter any other personal details apart from our name, and there is no unequivocal user identification. The selected tariff is displayed again during activation. The activation page then starts a 15-minute countdown for the final activation of the card. However, we did this after around five minutes. Finally, we were shown the account data (username and password) of our BNESIM account. This data should definitely be photographed or noted, as BNESIM has not collected any contact details for an account recovery up to this point.

In our opinion, all processes at BNESIM are very professional, clear and understandable.

At BNESIM, all phone calls are made via the app, and text messages are also received here. Of course, the international country code must always be dialed with all telephone calls. The call setup usually takes one to two seconds, sometimes “BNESIM” is announced briefly before the connection is established. On most of the phone calls we made, the voice quality was very good and comparable to that of a UMTS phone call.

The data packages can only be paid for by credit card. For a monthly surcharge, the customer can book additional local numbers from 40 countries (in addition to a free one), including Switzerland, USA, Canada, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Great Britain, Australia or New Zealand.

Conference rooms

BNESIM has recently added a feature called conference rooms. Every BNESIM user get 1 room with up to 3 participants. The room has a phone number assigned to it. People can call in to join and can disconnect any time. While callers are connected, they can hear and talk to everyone else connected in the room.

To add one more room and to have a higher capacity on each room, you need to upgrade to BNE PRO subscription. You get a total of 2 rooms and 10 participants per room after the upgrade.

I find this feature helpful for professionals working from home. It is a proper alternative for clients who are old fashioned and prefer the telephone over apps like Skype, Zoom or Webex.

Customer support

BNESIM customer support can be reached by dialing 888 on the BNESIM app or sending an email to support@bnesim.com. So far, the customer care experience for basic things like connectivity issues and configuration has been great for me and they were solved instantly on phone call. When emailed, the customer support responds in 1-2 hours.

The customer support can also be reached using the live chat widget on BNESIM website.

Conclusion: good service, transparent prices

All processes at BNESIM are kept very transparent and understandable: setup, app installation and user registration went smoothly. The user only needs to know how to manually configure an APN in the smartphone.

A special bonus at BNESIM is the local phone number included in the price. The prices for starter packages and other minute and data packages are calculated transparently at BNESIM, but not always cheap. You should always compare whether the package with BNESIM or perhaps not a local SIM in the travel destination is cheaper.

At BNESIM, however, the activity period of only six months, after which credit has to be recharged in order to prevent the account from being deactivated, is a bit short. Other roaming SIM providers let the SIM live for at least a year or do not switch the card off at all and only require a recharge for outgoing calls or data connections.

Having multiple phone numbers with outgoing caller ID selection is a great boon for business. The voicemail is free too. Other global SIM operators like OneSimCard tack on an extra fee over and above existing call rates for incoming and outgoing calls if using an additional phone number. Voicemail access isn’t free either with other global SIM providers.

Finally, the one killer feature that makes it stand out from all other options is the censorship-free and secure access to the Internet over mobile data. That alone makes it desirable over local SIMs and pocket Wi-Fi in many countries: China, Turkey, Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, to name a few.
