The EAEU is a political and economic union of five countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia: Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan. As Vedomosti adds, the Eurasian Economic Commission asked operators to share data on the number of their subscribers, volume and cost of cellular services provided to citizens of the EAEU countries from January 2020 to December 2022 by April 14. The Commission also requested information on the income of the operators.

The plan to abolish roaming charges between Russia and the EAEU countries is part of a larger effort to deepen economic integration within the union

A roadmap for the abolition of roaming in the EAEU was attached to the document. According to the Commission’s plans, operators must take measures to curb cases of fraud on their networks. The telecom companies should develop rules for the use of โ€œfair tariffs for communication servicesโ€ in the EAEU then, this work must be completed by the end of 2024. Mobile operators must introduce new tariffs for communications in the EAEU by the first quarter of 2025.

In 2021, Russia canceled roaming with Belarus. Experts explain that the cancellation was nominal, as operators began to impose limits on the number of minutes used per day. russia EAEU roaming

In October, Kommersant reported that Russian operators have reduced prices for roaming services in countries that have become popular for the relocation of Russians after the start of partial mobilization in September 2022. New roaming conditions became available in Turkey, Kazakhstan, Armenia and other countries.
