LG Uplus Enhances SIM Protection Service for Overseas Roaming Users

LG Uplus announced that it has upgraded its ‘SIM Protection Service’ to enable customers using international roaming to benefit from the security feature during the summer vacation season. LG Uplus SIM Protection

The ‘SIM Protection Service’ is a security solution designed to prevent unauthorized copying or use of a customer’s SIM (USIM) or eSIM by others. When enrolled, the customer’s SIM information is linked and managed through their device, and even if the SIM is illegally duplicated and inserted into another device, call and data usage are immediately blocked. This measure aims to prevent financial losses and other risks associated with SIM theft.

Previously, the service was limited and did not apply when a customer was using roaming overseas. However, with a system upgrade implemented on May 30, the service now operates seamlessly regardless of whether the customer is domestic or abroad.

From now on, new subscribers and existing customers enrolled in the SIM Protection Service will automatically benefit from the improved features without any additional steps. Customers currently overseas will also receive the improved service once they return to Korea. Detailed information is available through the ‘Your U+’ app or the official LG Uplus website.

Enrolling in the SIM Protection Service can be done via the ‘Your U+’ app, the official website, or customer service centers. Customers using MVNOs on the LG Uplus network can also sign up through their respective MVNO provider’s website.

An LG Uplus spokesperson stated,

“With the increasing demand for overseas travel during the upcoming summer season, we have strengthened our security features to ensure customers can use our services abroad with peace of mind.”

Meanwhile, LG Uplus reports steady growth in usage and inquiries related to its diverse roaming products, including the recently launched ‘Asia Roaming Pass,’ with inquiries increasing as the travel season approaches.
