OnePlus introduced OnePlus Roaming
With the international roaming feature, OnePlus users can access the internet while travelling abroad without having to buy a foreign SIM card. The new beta for the OnePlus 6 brings some fixes and improvements to telephony and other communications, plus some extra launcher options. But the highlights in this update are what OnePlus calls OnePlus Roaming and Video Enhancer.
It allows you to surf the internet without a local SIM card by using a virtual SIM (eSIM). This is similar to Google Fi, but it is important to note that OnePlus Roaming is only for data services and does not support calls or SMS.
Dubbed ‘OnePlus Roaming,’ users will be able to select a data-only plan from the settings menu in their phone. OnePlus says it should work in most countries and regions. Users on the beta can navigate to ‘Wi-Fi & Internet’ in the settings menu, and then tap ‘OnePlus Roaming.’
Then users can select one of the data plan options and purchase it. Then users will have access to roaming internet in that country. On top of this, Open Beta 7 brings OnePlus 6 users a ‘Video Enhancer.’
This mode enhances colours when watching videos, making them look better.
To activate OnePlus roaming service:
- Open settings > Wi-Fi > Internet > OnePlus Roaming
- You will now get a list of packages, choose the one suitable to your need
- The list will include names of country/regions; choose the country/region you are visiting
- And select a plan suitable for that location as per your needs
- Make the purchase using your credit card

With flagships from Samsung and Huawei now crossing the $1,000 mark, there’s increased interest in “affordable flagship” devices that offer similar hardware at around the $600 price point. The Counterpoint Research data reveals as much, with the likes of OPPO and OnePlus netting huge gains in the premium category.
OnePlus in particular managed to break into the top five global brands in the premium category for the first time, following its ascension to the top five spot in the U.S.. Strong sales of the OnePlus 6T accounted for the increase in market share, with China, India, and Western Europe driving 90% of its global shipments.
Important Note: OnePlus Roaming has been reported to have high prices compared to other roaming options. It is always best to check with your carrier about their international roaming plans before using OnePlus Roaming. You can also look for local SIM cards with data packages when you travel.
