Voice over LTE (VoLTE) allows you to establish a connection with a subscriber of any operator in a few seconds and provides clear sound during a call. The subscriber can communicate and simultaneously use the mobile Internet, for example, search for a location on the map, without interrupting the conversation with the interlocutor on the phone.
The technology does not affect the cost of services and does not consume Internet traffic: calls via LTE networks are charged as voice connections under the terms of international roaming. To use the service, the subscriber only needs to activate access in the smartphone settings.
“Foreign mobile operators are actively using VoLTE. Over time, the technology will allow 2G and 3G voice calls to be phased out, and some telecommunications companies have already announced such plans. By launching access to the service for Russian users now, we are acting proactively, because it is important for us to provide subscribers with a seamless transition to the new technology in international roaming,” comments Vlad Volfson, Commercial Director of MegaFon.
VoLTE technology became available to MegaFon subscribers in all regions of Russia in 2021. Currently, more than half of the voice traffic in the company’s network is VoLTE. Now subscribers can use the usual quality of communication while traveling abroad. megafon volte
MegaFon launches Private LTE network at Elga field
On an area of more than 10,000 hectares, LTE base stations were built, operating in four bands at once: 800, 900, 1800 and 2600 MHz, which guarantees high data transfer rates, coverage between remote objects of production sites, as well as signal penetration into premises where landline construction is hampered by distance and rocky terrain.
Private LTE will provide an environment for transport management using modern dispatching systems, in particular, the transmission of telemetry from mining equipment to track the performance of machines and equipment. IoT sensors and video cameras installed on excavators and dump trucks monitor both standard parameters: the pressure in tires that wear out quickly, the amount of fuel in the tanks, the level of vehicle loading during idle time, and additional ones — driver fatigue, dangerous proximity of vehicles during loading, and others.
“For an enterprise that operates in the difficult climatic conditions of the Far North, reducing the number of processes with the direct participation of people is a paramount task. Our own sustainable network automates such processes to the maximum extent, which will increase the level of industrial security, efficiency and labor safety,” emphasized Alexander Isaev, General Director of ElgaUgol Management Company. more than two thousand people remain in touch with family and loved ones.”
