Virtual mobile operator GoMo has announced it has increased customers’ EU data roaming allowance to 13GB from 10GB.

The Eir-owned operator said it had seen a 400% increase in data roaming year-on-year as holidaymakers returned to the continent.

GoMo customers can currently ‘Roam Like Home’ when travelling in the EU, which means they use a portion of their data at the same price at home, but limits are capped depending on the individual’s plan.

“Post-Covid, GoMo customers are ready to travel and explore again,” said Keelan Donoghue, director of mobile at GoMo. “We have seen a 400% increase in customer roaming versus summer 2021 and we know that one of the best parts of travelling is making everyone jealous of your trip, by posting great photos, videos and calling friends from sunny destinations and so, we have increased our 4G data EU roaming allowance for all customers up to 13GB.  GoMo customers have the reassurance that they will remain connected as they travel, all GoMo customers will have 13GB of 4G EU roaming data.”

GoMo has acquired more than 300,000 customers since launching with a lifetime price guarantee of €9.99 for unlimited texts and calls and 80GB of data per month in October 2019. gomo data roaming

The availability and quality of services when roaming may vary relative to that which you enjoy as a GoMo customer in Ireland due to regional differences including but not limited to the extent of network infrastructure, the landscape (e.g. due to tunnels, dips, cuttings, mountains and wooded areas and the density, height and fabric of buildings) and differences in the availability of the various network technologies (2G, 3G, 4G and 5G).

Voice calls may not connect or may take longer to connect and SMS may take longer or may not be delivered where service is limited.

Data service may be subject to greater latency, lower speeds or more limited availability.  This can result in internet access slowing down, web pages failing to load or problems with voice services carried over the internet (VoIP).  Certain applications such as video or audio applications may suffer from momentary interruptions and it may take more time to complete a task that involves downloading or uploading data, a file, audio or video from or to the internet.

Specific number ranges may be subject to charges that are higher than those that apply to calls and SMS to standard fixed and mobile numbers (e.g. premium numbers and non-standard number ranges that might be free or involve lower costs to customers of the foreign network but are not free when roaming).

The company has since steadily increased prices to €14.99 per month for new customers.
