All mobile operators benefit from EU ‘roam like at home’ rule in Spain
Prices set by the European Union
As we say, operators, when managing their customer’s calls abroad, do so through agreements with the telcos of the country to which they travel. The rules of the “end of roaming of the European Union” set the maximum (wholesale) prices that operators could charge each other for making “travel” through their mobile networks in the EU, the MB, SMS or customer calls.Â
Prices (wholesalers) 54% cheaper in Spain roam like home SpainÂ
In addition, if we continue diving in the Spanish case, we see, for example, that wholesale prices for data traffic fell by 54% compared to the previous summer (0.37 cents / minute in the IIIT 2017 vs. 0.81 cents / minute in the IIIT 2016).
In the case of voice calls, in Spain there were also significant decreases (you have it in this chart here): 2.95 cents IIIT-2017 vs. 2.53 euro cents III-2016.
