Spain‘s leading operators ended up benefiting from the introduction of new EU-wide ‘roam like home’ rules last summer, according to a report from communications regulator CNMC.
Although EU-wide data roaming rose 435 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2017 to over 84 million GB, the Spanish networks were able to cope with the high levels of seasonal incoming traffic.

Prices set by the European Union

As we say, operators, when managing their customer’s calls abroad, do so through agreements with the telcos of the country to which they travel. The rules of the “end of roaming of the European Union” set the maximum (wholesale) prices that operators could charge each other for making “travel” through their mobile networks in the EU, the MB, SMS or customer calls.
