A1 claims first for 5G roaming in Serbia
In a bid to provide its users with the same experience enjoyed across Europe and the world, A1 Serbia has become the first mobile operator in Serbia to offer 5G roaming. This service is available to all A1 customers who currently use 4G, own a 5G-enabled device, and connect to a partner mobile network abroad that supports 5G for foreign users. a1 srbija 5g roaming

“This way, A1 Serbia users can utilize the latest generation technology while abroad, even before it’s available in Serbia,” states Nenad Zeljković, Chief Technology Officer at A1 Serbia. He emphasizes the positive impact of 5G on economies and societies, highlighting its potential to elevate service quality and ensure sufficient capacity to accommodate the ever-growing internet traffic.
5G NSA: An Enhancement Over 4G LTE
It’s important to note that this is a 5G NSA (Non-Standalone) solution, where the 5G network is supported by the existing 4G infrastructure rather than being independent. 5G NSA offers improvements over the current 4G LTE in Serbia, providing faster user speeds, translating to quicker website loading, enhanced video quality, smoother streaming, and faster file downloads.
Opting In or Out of 5G Roaming
The 5G roaming service is available to all eligible users. If a user doesn’t wish to utilize it, they can easily disable it in their device settings.
Keeping Pace with New Technologies
A1 Serbia Reaches One Million VoLTE Users
Through continuous development and implementation of technological innovations, A1 Serbia recently achieved one million users on its VoLTE technology. VoLTE, or “Voice over LTE,” offers crystal-clear audio, faster call setup, and the ability to use voice calls and internet surfing simultaneously.
What You Need to Use VoLTE
All you need to use this service is a smartphone with network access and a SIM card. This service is not charged additionally, and full A1 data speeds of up to 390 Mbit/s are enabled on all A1 subscription packages.
“One million VoLTE users is not just a number, but a reflection of A1’s strategic approach in establishing a network infrastructure that can support all future innovations,” stated Nenad Zeljković, Chief Technology Officer at A1 Serbia. “Our mission is to continue to set standards in telecommunications, providing users with advanced technologies, innovations, and services that enable them to be one step ahead. With VoLTE as a key link to the 5G future, A1 Serbia is ready to transform the way users communicate and experience mobile technologies, providing them with a superior user experience.”
Building a Fiber-Optic Future
In line with its vision to lead in implementing cutting-edge technologies, A1 Serbia has entered a new phase of development, accelerating its program to build a local, proprietary fiber-optic network in FTTH (Fiber to the Home) architecture. This initiative aims to provide users with fixed services such as fiber-optic internet.
