LOT Polish Airlines new routes

LOT Adds Rovaniemi and Málaga Routes for Winter 2025/26

LOT Polish Airlines is bringing two new and contrasting destinations to its network for the 2025/2026 winter season. Travellers will soon be able to head north to the snowy landscapes of Lapland or south to the sunny shores of Spain’s Costa del Sol, all from the airline’s global hub in Warsaw. The additions—Rovaniemi in Finland and Málaga in Spain—strengthen LOT’s position as a carrier connecting Central and Eastern Europe with diverse global destinations.

While the flights to Rovaniemi will be seasonal, catering to winter holidaymakers, Málaga joins LOT’s growing list of year-round Spanish routes. Both destinations promise a wealth of cultural, leisure, and scenic experiences, making them attractive options for travellers seeking variety in their winter getaways.

Rovaniemi: Gateway to the Arctic Circle

Starting 27 November 2025, LOT Polish Airlines will operate flights to Rovaniemi every Thursday and Sunday until 1 February 2026. Located in Finland’s northern Lapland region, Rovaniemi is famed as the official hometown of Santa Claus and a prime destination for winter tourism. Visitors can expect snowy adventures, from cross-country skiing and snowshoeing to meeting reindeer and huskies.

The flights will be operated with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, offering a flight time of approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. Departures from Warsaw are scheduled for 11:35, arriving in Rovaniemi at 15:20 local time. This schedule allows for convenient connections from other LOT destinations, making Lapland more accessible than ever for international travellers.

Highlights for Visitors

  • Santa Claus Village: A festive destination open year-round, where visitors can meet Santa himself.
  • Northern Lights: Rovaniemi’s location above the Arctic Circle makes it an excellent spot to witness the aurora borealis.
  • Winter Sports: Opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling abound.

Málaga: Sunshine on the Costa del Sol

From 15 January 2026, LOT will launch flights to Málaga, operated year-round. During the winter months, flights will depart on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. In the summer season, additional services will run on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Flights will be operated using Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with a flight time of around 4 hours and 15 minutes. Departures from Warsaw are scheduled for 10:20, arriving in Málaga at 14:35 local time.

Málaga offers a rich mix of cultural attractions, Mediterranean beaches, and Andalusian cuisine. As the birthplace of Pablo Picasso, the city boasts several museums, including the Museo Picasso Málaga, and is a gateway to the wider Costa del Sol region. The mild winter climate makes it an appealing choice for travellers seeking warmth and sunshine during the colder months in northern Europe.

Highlights for Visitors

  • Pablo Picasso Museum: Celebrating the life and works of the city’s most famous artist.
  • Historic Centre: Featuring the Alcazaba fortress, Roman Theatre, and charming old town streets.
  • Costa del Sol Beaches: Renowned for their golden sand and lively promenades.

LOT’s Expanding Network

These new routes reflect LOT Polish Airlines’ strategy to broaden its reach and diversify its offerings. The carrier, a member of Star Alliance, already connects Central and Eastern Europe to major destinations across the globe, including the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and India. The addition of Rovaniemi and Málaga provides more options for leisure travellers and further cements Warsaw’s role as a connecting hub.

LOT operates its long-haul flights with Boeing 787 Dreamliners, one of the most advanced wide-body aircraft in the world, while medium-haul flights, such as these new routes, are served by Boeing 737s. Founded in 1929, LOT is the 12th oldest airline in the world and one of Poland’s most internationally recognised brands.
