Montenegro’s One registers new peak in roaming tourists during summer 2022
The summer season in Montenegro from the point of view of the One company is extremely successful, announced its executive director, Branko Mitrović, and added that during the peak of the season, as many as 150,000 tourists chose the roaming service in that network during one day. montenegro one roaming
“The success of our company’s season is best illustrated by the fact that in the peak season during one day, as many as 150,000 tourists chose the One network roaming service, which is 19 percent more than last year, and even 25 percent more than the record 2019,” Mitrović said in an interview with the Mina-business agency.
This, as he stated, clearly indicates that a reliable network is the first factor that determines users when choosing an operator, as well as that by presenting a new brand, they sent the right messages that reached not only their users but also a large number of people who chose Montenegro for their destination this summer.
One’s attractive tourist offer
“This is the first season we stepped into as a new brand, presenting an attractive tourist offer to the public, which, judging by the numbers, was recognized and accepted by numerous tourists from the region as well as from the countries of the European Union,” announced Mitrović.
He also stated that the results in their prepaid segment show that they are on the right track with the new brand.
“The number of new users in the pre-season increased significantly compared to last year, in May by as much as nine percent, while in the peak season we recorded a slight drop, which is expected since guests from the region, of which there are traditionally the most in Montenegro, due to the Roaming model as they no longer need prepaid cards at home,” explained Mitrović.
According to him, these great results only confirm that the new brand, which they introduced this spring, is already recognized not only in the country but throughout the region.
Almost 40 percent of tourists came from EU montenegro one roaming
“Summing up the results in the telecommunications industry, we are happy that they represent a strong indicator of the recovery of the entire Montenegrin economy after two difficult pandemic years,” Mitrović added.
When asked if, based on the company’s data, he could say what the structure of guests who visited our country was, he replied that they notice changes when it comes to the structure of visitors who use roaming in the One network.
“Half of the guests come from the countries of the Western Balkans, but the number of tourists from the countries of the European Union has increased significantly, reaching a percentage of almost 40 percent. This growth is a consequence of the greater availability of Montenegro as an airline destination, especially in the context of the pandemic reality in the past two years when this was not the case,” Mitrović said.
New direct flights to Montenegro are country’s tourism priority
This, as he specified, is another proof that more intensive air traffic, as well as the introduction of new direct flights, must be among the priorities of the country’s tourism development.
“Due to the Roaming as at home model, which implies the same conditions as in the home network, and which came into force in July of last year, there was multiple increases in the use of roaming services, up to ten times more compared to the period before the regulation. Bearing in mind the fact that guests from the countries of the Western Balkans do not pay high prices for roaming, these results are actually extremely encouraging for us, because they also show us that the number of prepaid users from other markets has increased significantly,” said Mitrović.
When it comes to prepaid users, the data shows slight shifts.
“We are pleased that guests from Germany are significantly more present among One users, jumping from sixth to fourth place this year compared to last year. The fact that we are connected by airlines to as many as five German cities is certainly reflected in the increased number of tourists from this country,” Mitrović said.
Impact of war in Ukraine
In response to the question of how the war in Ukraine affects the structure and how that picture looks this summer if we are talking about otherwise traditional tourists from that country and Russia, he said that, unfortunately, apart from the worst consequences of the war on the territory of Europe, and these are human sacrifices and sufferings, today we witness numerous negative effects throughout the world in almost all segments of life.
“Undoubtedly, this war also affected the telecommunications industry in Montenegro. So this year, the number of our users from Russia remained at the same level, while the number of users coming from Ukraine dropped significantly,” Mitrović added.
Speaking about the way in which telco operators can contribute to the development of Montenegro’s tourist offer, he said that the One company deeply believes that it is not only a choice but also an obligation of large business entities to contribute to society through their activities.
“One of the important tasks of the entire community is the positioning of our tourism and the promotion of the beauty of this country,” said Mitrović.
He believes that they did exactly that through an attractive offer. In anticipation of the summer and eagerly awaited vacations, One has prepared new packages for prepaid and postpaid users this year, which are fully adapted to the needs of tourists, those who have the option of working remotely, as well as all users who want to surf the Internet unhindered and enjoy advantages of the One network.
