Xiaomi Mi Roaming service
Xiaomi Mi Roaming was first launched in 2015 in Mainland China and has been used by more than 10 million users of MIUI, Xiaomi’s Android-based operating system.
Through Mi Roaming, MIUI creates a virtual local SIM card based on the user’s current location that will enable users to activate mobile data at an affordable rate without the need to switch carriers.
Xiaomi Mi Roaming availability
At launch, Mi Roaming supports 50 countries and regions, including Indonesia, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and 42 countries across Europe.
Unlimited data packages can be purchased at prices ranging from Rp27,000 (US$2.03) to Rp100,000 per day. To activate and purchase Xiaomi Mi Roaming data packages, users can start the preinstalled Mi Roaming app, and agree to the user agreement before selecting the packages.
They can be paid for through carriers, bank transfers and convenience stores including Alfamart and 7-11.
Currently, Mi Roaming is available for Redmi 3S, Redmi Note 3, and Redmi Note 4, with more support for other devices being planned.
Xiaomi partnered with Telna in February this year to provide expanded international roaming coverage through the Mi Roaming virtual SIM platform.
Launching first to over 100 million users from mainland China, the new, broadened coverage will be available on all current Xiaomi smartphone models, enabling access to affordable, seamless, 4G LTE 3G data roaming in more international destinations including in Europe and North America.

How does Xiaomi Mi Roaming affect my original SIM card?
Activating Xiaomi Mi Roaming will use one SIM card slot. For Dual SIM phones, when only one physical card is inserted: following activation, the service will work from the spare SIM card slot, and the physical card can be used normally.
How do I activate roaming on my MI phone?
- Select Settings.
- Select General settings.
- Select Mobile networks.
- Select Data connection.
- Select Roaming.
- Select Data roaming.
- Turn Data roaming on or off.
- To change network if network problems occur, select Network operators.
