Vip mobile introduces mobile package for Serbia start-ups
Telekom Austria plans to change the name of its Serbian subsidiary Vip Mobile to A1 in 2020, Austrian media reported.
The one-brand strategy applies in six out of seven countries and Serbia will follow this year, daily Kurier quoted the CEO of Telekom Austria, Thomas Arnoldner, as saying on Wednesday.
Telekom Austria’s net profit rose 34.4% in 2019 to 327.4 million euro ($356.2 million), as the rebranding of subsidiaries in Southeastern Europe (SEE) had a negative impact on the financial performance in past years, Arnoldner said.
Serbia is the only country in SEE where Telekom Austria’s mobile unit operates under a brand different from A1.
In the period between 2017 and 2019, the Austrian telecommunications operator completed the rebranding of its subsidiaries in Bulgaria, Croatia, North Macedonia, Belarus and Slovenia to A1, the same as the name of the mobile operator in Austria.
Telekom Austria has been present on the Serbian market since December 2006 when it acquired the third mobile licence in the country for 320 million euro.
