Videotron supports toll-free international calling over Wi-Fi
Videotron ’s new Wi-Fi Calling service lets eligible mobile customers connect to a Wi-Fi network to make voice calls and send text messages, at home and abroad
We estimate that over the past year, one out of five Videotron customers have used roaming on their cell phones while travelling abroad. Since June 2016, Videotron customers have, on average, almost quintupled their data usage outside the country, doubled the number of phone calls, and sent more text messages.
With the launch of Wi-Fi Calling, Videotron customers travelling in more than 100 countries will be able to text and call Canada or numbers in another country at no charge and without using an app; customers just place the call or send the text as they normally would.

“We are confident that this new generation of mobile voice services will meet our customers’ needs and make their lives easier when they’re traveling and when they’re not,” says Bertrand Hébert, Vice President, Marketing of Videotron. “Videotron is strongly committed to mobile innovation and is constantly testing the technological limits to provide the best possible customer experience.”
Currently, the service can be used on the following devices from Videotron: iPhone 7, 7+, 8, 8+ and X, Samsung S7 and S7 Edge. Other devices will be added in the coming weeks.
Available almost everywhere, Wi-Fi takes mobile voice services to the next level. Voice over Wi-Fi technology takes over from the mobile network and routes calls in areas where cell coverage is suboptimal, such as basements, tunnels, and buildings.
