Verizon eSIM: Everything You Need to Know

How to activate eSIM on Verizon
To activate eSIM on Verizon, you will need to follow these steps:
New customers:
- Go to the Verizon website or the My Verizon app and sign up for a new Verizon plan.
- Select the “Activate eSIM” option.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to download and install the eSIM profile.
Existing customers:
- Go to the Verizon website or the My Verizon app and log in to your account.
- Click on the “Manage Devices” tab.
- Select the device that you want to activate eSIM on.
- Click on the “Activate eSIM” button.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to download and install the eSIM profile.
While you’re setting up your eSIM-capable device, some devices will need a QR code. If so, you’ll get it during set-up. If you can’t find it or aren’t sure if you need one, see below:

- Android: Some Android devices require a QR code to download an eSIM profile. See the steps for your specific device.
- iPhone 12 and newer don’t need a QR code.
Using dual SIM with eSIM on Verizon
Verizon offers dual SIM support on a select number of devices. This allows you to use two different phone numbers on a single device. One of the SIM cards can be an eSIM.
To set up a dual SIM on your Verizon device, you will need to follow these steps:
- Go to the Settings app on your device.
- Tap on Cellular.
- Tap on Add Cellular Plan.
- Select the eSIM option
- Follow the instructions on the screen to scan the QR code provided by Verizon or enter the eSIM activation code.
Once you have added your eSIM plan, you can choose which SIM card you want to use for voice calls, data, and text messages. To do this, follow these steps:
- Go to the Settings app on your device.
- Tap on Cellular.
- Tap on the SIM card that you want to change the settings for.
- Under Cellular Plans, choose the plan that you want to use for voice calls, data, and text messages.
