Buying a SIM card in Montenegro

Local SIM Cards: Currently in 2019, there are three major mobile phone providers in Montenegro: Crnogorski Telekom, Telenor and m:tel and there are several Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO).

Sim cards can be easily purchased at the airport upon arrival or at any mobile operator’s retail outlet located throughout the country. The average price of a prepaid sim card is around €5-€10, depending on the operator and the data package chosen.

When buying a prepaid package, the customer is obliged to correctly complete a registration form and produce a corresponding identification document for the authorized person at the point of sale. So be prepared to show an ID card or passport and do some paperwork.

Starting in May 2017 all operators started using an application for the electronic registration of users of prepaid mobile services. The Law on Electronic Communications stipulates that the operators must, without delay, register subscribers of fixed, mobile (postpaid and prepaid), as well as internet services.

All outlets of authorized distributors of SIM cards of mobile operators are equipped with mobile phones running applications for customer registration. This is the first app of its kind in the former Yugoslavia region and one of the first in Europe.avel to montenegro

Montenegro Tourism

Situated on the intensely blue waters of the Adriatic, small but mighty Montenegro its on par with its Balkan neighbours for beautiful scenery. Flawless beaches line the coast of the Budva Riviera, while the mountainous north showcases unspoilt nature. There’s so much to explore in Montenegro, but a good place to start is the Bay of Kotor. This pretty bay is home to the ancient walled town of Kotor, a medieval labyrinth of museums, cathedrals and palaces which wouldn’t look out of place in Venice. As the sun sets over the blissful bay, the streets come alive with bustling bars and clubs. Montenegro’s national parks are the best way to discover natural treasures, such as NjegoÅ¡ Mausoleum. 1,657 m above sea level, Lovćen National Park’s headline act is the well worth the 461 steps which lead to the tomb of Montenegro’s greatest hero – Petar Petrovic II Njegos. Less than two hour’s drive from the coast is the 17th-century Ostrog Monastery. Carved into a cliff face 900 m above the Zeta valley, this architectural anomaly is visited by millions of Orthodox Christian pilgrims and curious tourists each year. Inside you’ll observe stunning frescoes and the relics of St. Basil.

There are approximately 400 hotels in the country, ranging from budget-friendly options to luxury resorts. The average price for a hotel room in Montenegro is around €40-€80 per night, depending on the season and the location.

The country’s national airline is Montenegro Airlines, which operates flights to several destinations within Europe. There are also several low-cost carriers that offer flights to and from Montenegro, including Wizz Air and Ryanair.
