About North Korea roaming

Local SIM Cards: Currently, there are three major mobile phone providers in North Korea: Koryolink, Byol and Kang Song. Travel to North Korea?

North Korea is a very isolated country where very special rules and obligations are enforced. As visitors have recently been able to get SIM cards with data at a very high price, this country has been reassigned from the blacklist to the greylist.

Only Koryolink caters to foreigners too, mainly in the capital of Pyongyang and in major towns. Koryolink has no international roaming agreements.

On arrival in North Korea at the airport, you need to declare your phone along with any other electronics you might be carrying (phones, tablets, computers, etc.). It’s possible that Korean customs will ask to inspect your electronic devices on arrival. Travel to North Korea?

To buy a sim card in North Korea, tourists are required to register with the government and obtain a permit, which is usually arranged through a tour operator or travel agency. Tourists must also bring their own phone as most North Korean citizens do not have access to mobile phones.

The cost of a Koryolink sim card is unknown, as information about pricing and availability is not readily available to the public.

When purchasing a sim card, it is recommended to avoid buying an expensive one at the airport or in the last minute, as prices tend to be higher and you may be limited in your options.  Travel to Austria?
