S. Korea’s largest mobile operator, SK Telecom launched affordable data roaming services to its subscribers traveling to the Americas and European countries. sk telecom daa roaming
The new “data pass” for the Americas and Europe will allow the company’s T roaming subscribers to avail themselves of 3 or 6 gigabytes (GB) of data for 30 days. The passes will be good for 15 countries in North and South America and 44 countries in Europe, SK Telecom said.
The mobile service provider said the 3 GB option for the Americas pass will be sold for 33,000 won (US$30.6), while the 6 GB version will be 53,000 won. The European pass will be slightly more expensive at 39,000 and 59,000 for the 3 GB and 6 GB options, respectively.
“Most T roaming clients who visit the Americas and Europe have been found to stay an average of 10 days and visit a number of countries while there,” the company said. “By providing 30 days service and the ability to download data in many countries, SK is providing greater leeway to users.” sk telecom data roaming
In addition to the new pass service, SK said it is offering 1 GB of extra data to its customers between 18-29 who apply for “customized data download passes” when traveling in the Americas, Europe and Asia, as well as for its South Korea-Japan-China passes.
SK Telecom offers a range of data roaming options, including daily and weekly packages, as well as pay-per-use rates
Some examples of their data roaming tariffs as of September 2021 include:
- Daily Package: For a daily fee, customers can receive a certain amount of data, such as 100 MB or 1 GB, depending on the country or region they are visiting.
- Weekly Package: For a weekly fee, customers can receive a certain amount of data, such as 300 MB or 3 GB, depending on the country or region they are visiting.
- Pay-per-use Rates: Customers can also use data roaming on a pay-per-use basis, with rates varying depending on the country or region they are visiting.
It’s important to note that these tariffs may have changed since my knowledge cut-off date, and it’s always a good idea to check with SK Telecom or your mobile operator to confirm the most up-to-date data roaming options and prices before you travel. Additionally, please be aware that data roaming charges can be significantly higher than domestic data rates, so it’s a good idea to be mindful of your data usage while traveling to avoid unexpected charges.
