UAE telecom operators e& and du have rolled out affordable roaming offers for Eid Al-Fitr travellers, catering to the surge in outbound holiday trips.  Eid Al-Fitr is an Islamic holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. It is a major celebration for Muslims worldwide, characterized by communal prayers, festive meals, giving to charity (Zakat al-Fitr), and spending time with family and friends. The exact date varies each year based on the Islamic lunar calendar.

The long break coincides with school spring holidays, prompting hundreds of thousands of UAE residents to travel abroad.

Dubai International Airport (DXB) expects 3.6 million passengers between March 26 and April 7, with departures during Eid week projected to rise by 19 percent compared to recent weekly averages.

Recognizing this seasonal demand, du and e& have introduced budget-friendly roaming packages, ensuring seamless connectivity for UAE travellers at highly competitive rates.

e&, also known as Etisalat, has launched a promo offer of 30 GB local data for post-paid users’ browsing, streaming, and chatting needs for Dh 100 (valid for 30 days, excluding VAT). Those looking for something cheaper can avail themselves of the 15GB package, also available for Dh100 (VAT inapplicable).

Prepaid customers can also avail of 30GB of local data to stay in touch with what matters most, just for Dh 100 (valid for 30 days, VAT exclusive).

The telco has launched special discounts of up to 70 percent on smartphones, laptops, tablets, TVs, accessories, and wearables.

UAE’s second main telco du has launched destination-specific offers. For example, travellers to India can avail themselves of 15GB of data, unlimited outgoing call minutes (to the UAE, locally while travelling, and to selected countries), and 500 minutes of incoming calls. The offer is valid for 15 days for Dh350. The users can also access WhatsApp, Telegram, and more. This offer applies to postpaid and prepaid customers with minor differences.

UAE travellers headed to the UK, US, and a few European countries can avail themselves of similar plans. Users can also elect to take only data or voice plans or data and voice plans.

Earlier this month, du also launched a Business Roamer Plan with 10GB of roaming data, 300 outgoing minutes, and 200 incoming minutes included monthly. It provides coverage in over 170 countries through more than 300 roaming partners. The plan is priced at Dh325 per month and tailored for executives, procurement heads, corporate admins, and government professionals.
