The new ‘Super Wi-Fi’ facility was recently introduced on select flights from Washington DC, Chicago and New York, granting passengers seated in any class access to unlimited Wi-Fi capabilities during long-haul journeys to seamlessly browse the internet, stream videos, check social media and more during flights.

Qatar Airways Senior Vice President of the Americas, Eric Odone said: ‘As one of the fastest growing airlines and greatest innovators in the industry, Qatar Airways’ commitment to expanding onboard, technological advancements and providing superb service is paramount.

Rich content

‘Since the roll out of ‘Super Wi-Fi’ in April, we noticed positive reception across our eligible routes. Thus, we are thrilled to now offer ‘unlimited Wi-Fi in the sky’ to our Chicago, Washington DC and New York customers, as they will have access to rich content without restriction – perfect for both leisure and business.’

With the roll out of ‘Super Wi-Fi’ in April, Qatar Airways became the first carrier from the MENA region to provide advanced high-speed Wi-Fi to its passengers across the globe.

In addition to the select U.S. routes, the GX Aviation broadband service is being progressively rolled out on all Boeing 777 aircraft and Airbus A350 aircraft in Qatar Airways’ young fleet.

In 2017, Qatar Airways also activated Inmarsat’s world leading advanced space-based tracking system to track all of its flights in real-time across the world. Using Inmarsat’s network of satellites, the system detects signals transmitted from aircraft and relays information to ground-based receivers on speed, location and direction.

Qatar Airways is one of the world’s fastest-growing airlines, with a modern fleet of more than 200 aircraft flying to business and leisure destinations across six continents.
