Royal Caribbean passenger and her companion have been banned for life from the company’s cruises after she stood on a ship railing to pose for a selfie.

Photos snapped by a fellow passenger some distance away show the unnamed woman in a light blue bathing suit on the outside edge of the Allure of the Seas with her hands over her head.

Just witnessed this on Allure. What an absolute IDIOT. You cannot fall off of a ship unless you are acting like a moron!” passenger Peter Blosic wrote in social media, where he posted a photo of the woman in a blue bathing suit with her hands above her head. Blosic quickly alerted ship staff about the reckless stunt.

CNN reported that the giant cruise ship was approaching Labadee, Haiti, when the incident happened.

Royal Caribbean says on its website that “sitting, standing, laying or climbing on, over or across any exterior or interior railings or other protective barriers, or tampering with ship’s equipment, facilities or systems designed for guest safety is not permitted.”

The company stresses that failure to adhere to the rules could result in the “removal from a ship at the next port of call.”

A 2018 research study counted 259 selfie-related deaths between 2011 and 2017. The mean age was just under 23 years old and an estimated 73% of the victims were male. The most selfie deaths were reported in India followed by Russia, the United States, and Pakistan. ban cruise selfie

Taking selfies can be a fun and harmless way to capture a moment, but unfortunately, it can also be deadly if not done with caution.

Here are some of the deadliest selfies that have been documented: ban cruise selfie

  1. Selfies taken while driving: According to a study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, taking selfies while driving is 8 times more dangerous than texting and driving. In 2016, a woman in North Carolina died after she crashed her car while taking a selfie.
  2. Selfies taken on high structures: Many people have died while taking selfies on high structures such as buildings, bridges, and cliffs. In 2015, a man in Russia fell to his death while taking a selfie on a bridge.
  3. Selfies taken with dangerous animals: People have been attacked and even killed while taking selfies with wild animals such as lions, tigers, and bears. In 2016, a man in India was mauled to death by a bear while trying to take a selfie with it.
  4. Selfies taken near water: People have drowned while taking selfies near waterfalls, rivers, and beaches. In 2018, a tourist in Indonesia drowned while taking a selfie in front of a giant wave.
  5. Selfies taken with guns: Accidental shootings have occurred while people were taking selfies with guns. In 2016, a man in the United States accidentally shot himself in the head while posing with a gun for a selfie.

It’s important to remember that a selfie is not worth risking your life for. Always prioritize your safety and be aware of your surroundings when taking a selfie.
