Orange Poland announced an additional fee for roaming calls within the EU for prepaid users
From June 18, Orange prepaid users who use roaming services in the EU will be added a symbolic additional fee to the price of the connection or data transmission “as in the country”. Find out more about Orange Poland ‘s prepaid offers below.
It will amount to PLN 0.50 per minute of a call made, PLN 0.20 per minute of call received, PLN 0.00 for an SMS sent, and less than PLN 0.90 for an MMS or a data transmission megabyte. Such a surcharge means that roaming in Orange will still be very cheap and will not be a restriction on the free use of services in the EU.
UKE has issued such consent to a dozen or so operators, including Orange Poland.
As the first of the major mobile operators, the additional fee was introduced by Play, which did it for both postpaid and prepaid clients.
The “Roam Like at Home” principle, in line with which roaming charges for international calls within the EU have been abolished, has been in force since the middle of last year. From the very beginning, Polish operators have emphasized that the lack of roaming charges will negatively affect their financial results. Orange in the first quarter of this year suffered a loss of PLN 15 million.
In the first quarter of 2018, Orange Polska generated PLN 674 million of EBITDA profit. The group’s revenues amounted to PLN 2.71 billion and were lower by 1.8 percent than a year earlier. Netia’s net loss amounted to PLN 50 million. The number of mobile users after the drop reached the level of over 14.36 million. Orange Poland prepaid
