Orange Luxembourg Ups the eSIM Game with Seamless Global Activation via Hello App

As eSIM adoption accelerates worldwide, mobile network operators are no longer sitting on the sidelines. With the launch of the Hello eSIM app, Orange Luxembourg signals a clear shift: MNOs are stepping up, embracing eSIMs not just as a tech upgrade—but as a strategic tool to compete directly with global eSIM brokers. The new app lets anyone, whether an Orange customer or not, instantly activate a local or international eSIM without scanning a QR code, highlighting how traditional carriers are modernizing to reclaim control in the travel connectivity market.

Accessible to everyone, whether you are an Orange customer or not, it simplifies the activation of a local or international number, enabling you to manage multiple lines or subscribe to a prepaid data plan while traveling.

Available in over 100 countries, Hello eSIM allows you to stay connected with prepaid data plans for the country of your choice, payable via Apple Pay or other methods.

A flexible, simple, and instant solution designed to support new digital habits anytime and anywhere.

As holiday departures approach, Orange Luxembourg launches a new application designed to support travelers abroad. Named Hello eSIM, the app allows users to activate an eSIM in just a few clicks for Luxembourg or international destinations.

“This new solution leverages the latest available technologies to enhance user experience. It is now possible, directly from the app, to activate an electronic SIM card—and thus a phone number. Scanning a QR code is no longer necessary,”

explains Mustapha Rahem, Head of B2C at Orange Luxembourg.

Activating an eSIM is simple

Today, all smartphone manufacturers support eSIM activation on their devices, greatly simplifying the process of subscribing to plans or activating packages with one or multiple operators.

“With Hello eSIM, accessible to all users—whether they are Orange customers or not—access to eSIMs is now easier. Everything can be done from the app, to better support everyone, locally or while traveling,” continues Mustapha Rahem.

Increasingly, we are becoming Multi-SIM users; adopting multiple numbers based on needs is now common.

In Luxembourg, subscribing to a no-contract plan with Orange is extremely straightforward. A smartphone can manage up to ten eSIMs, with two active simultaneously. Users can easily configure each number’s usage in their mobile settings.

“Locally, you can now switch easily between two numbers, depending on your consumption habits. For example, you can have a call and SMS plan with one operator and subscribe to a data package or a full mobile plan without commitment from Orange Luxembourg,” adds Mustapha Rahem.
“Depending on current offers, users have greater freedom to manage their plans as they wish. Thanks to our new app, they can also activate connectivity solutions anytime, anywhere. We are responding to the new Multi-SIM usage trends.”

Easily subscribe to prepaid data plans abroad

The app is also likely to appeal to frequent travelers, both within Europe and outside the European Union, whether they are Orange customers or not. Indeed, Hello eSIM allows activation of a dedicated line in less than 2 minutes, with a prepaid data plan in the visited country.

“This feature addresses new consumption habits: travelers want to avoid surprises on their bills while ensuring reliable internet access to use their apps, wherever they are,” adds Mustapha Rahem.

The process, accessible everywhere via the app, enables users to stay connected in over 100 countries.

“There are no surprises: from the Travel eSIM tab, you access a selection of prepaid data plans. You can subscribe to 5, 10, or 20 GB of data in China or many other countries, to cover your connectivity needs during your stay. Payment can be made directly via Apple Pay for iPhone users or through other traditional methods,” he explains.

“Everyone can stay in touch with loved ones via their favorite social networks, make calls through WhatsApp, access streaming platforms, or even order a VTC,” concludes Mustapha Rahem.

Wherever you want to connect, Orange is there.

Changing consumption habits, both locally and abroad, are evolving. With eSIMs—and their activation made extremely simple thanks to Orange Luxembourg’s new app—anyone can add a number whenever and wherever they wish. For Orange customers in the Grand Duchy, the app also allows tracking all data related to their subscriptions: usage, bills, or other active lines within the household.

“Our goal is to support our users everywhere, all the time. Whatever their needs—such as finding a connectivity solution in the countryside or in the middle of the night—Orange is there. Thanks to this innovative app, everyone can always stay connected,” concludes Corinne Lozé, CEO of Orange Luxembourg.

Final thoughts

The launch of Hello eSIM by Orange Luxembourg isn’t just a product release—it’s a signal flare. Traditional roaming models are outdated, overpriced, and out of step with the expectations of modern mobile users. Travelers don’t want to decode complex pricing charts or return home to surprise bills. They want transparency, control, and instant access. That’s what eSIM delivers.

By offering seamless activation without QR codes and plans tailored for global use, Orange is acknowledging what independent eSIM providers have proven for years: the future of mobile connectivity is digital, flexible, and borderless. The fact that MNOs are now building tools to compete directly with brokers shows they finally understand—roaming isn’t evolving. It’s being replaced.

eSIM isn’t just a convenience. It’s a reset button for the mobile industry.

The Hello eSIM app — Orange Luxembourg is now available on the App Store and Google Play.
