Orange France Offers 1-Month Free eSIM Trial to First 50,000 Users
Orange France has unveiled a new promotion aimed at boosting eSIM adoption and showcasing its 5G network: a free 31-day trial for the first 50,000 customers who activate an eSIM profile.
The trial gives eligible users a full month of service at no cost, with access to Orange’s high-speed 4G and 5G coverage across France. It is available exclusively to customers with an eSIM-compatible device, such as newer iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, or Google Pixel models.
Encouraging eSIM Adoption
The initiative reflects a growing push by operators to normalize the use of embedded SIMs. Unlike traditional SIM cards, eSIMs are built directly into devices and can be activated instantly via QR code or mobile app. For users, that means no waiting for physical SIM cards, and easier switching between operators.
By giving away one month of connectivity, Orange hopes to highlight these advantages while persuading hesitant users to make the switch. With Apple already shipping eSIM-only iPhones in the United States and other markets set to follow, the French operator is positioning itself ahead of the curve.
Limited to 50,000 Customers
The offer is capped at 50,000 activations, making it effectively first-come, first-served. Customers will need to register their eSIM with Orange to comply with French telecom regulations, which require SIM and eSIM users to provide identification. After the free period ends, normal subscription charges will apply unless users cancel or migrate to another plan.
What It Means for Consumers and Travelers
For local users, the trial is a chance to experience Orange’s network with zero upfront cost. For international travelers, it could be a convenient way to test a French eSIM without navigating physical SIM purchases upon arrival. Orange already sells “Orange Holiday” travel eSIMs, but this free trial may serve as an introduction to longer-term offers.
Industry Signal
Operators across Europe are experimenting with incentives to accelerate eSIM adoption. Free trials are emerging as a powerful tactic: they remove risk for consumers and simultaneously help carriers highlight the advantages of digital connectivity.
With this move, Orange not only expands its 5G marketing push but also underscores a broader industry trend—the future of mobile is increasingly eSIM-only.
