Western Balkans roaming to be completely free as of July 2021
Roaming in the Western Balkans (WB) region will be completely abolished on July 1, 2021, as confirmed at the opening of the third WB Digital Summit, hosted by Tirana this year. free roaming balkans
The Third Western Balkans Digital Summit (WBDS) opened in Tirana on Monday, continuing its legacy, which started at the WBDS Skopje in 2018—the first-ever WB DS that initiated digital policy dialogue on WB digital transformation at the highest prime ministers level—followed by the DS in Belgrade in 2019 with the signing of the Regional Roaming Agreement.
At the opening of the online summit, which will be held until October 28, the Secretary-General of the Regional Cooperation Council, Majlinda Bregu, pointed out that the historic agreement from Belgrade in 2019 began the phasing out of roaming, which will end on July 1, 2021, as the third step will be to reduce roaming between WB and EU countries.
”The agreement from Belgrade has made a big step forward, and the third step, which will be of a medium-term character, is to reduce roaming between the WB and the EU. Preparations for that have already been started and the activities will be presented during the next digital summit,” Bregu added.
He says that the accelerated digitalization should contribute to the integration of the WB market and that the idea of a single market based on the free movement of people and goods will be confirmed at the Summit of EU and WB leaders in Sofia, which will be held on November 10 as part of the Berlin Process capital and services. free roaming balkans
