Elisa has taken a big leap as a 5G service provider and is now among the first operators in the world to offer its customers a chance to use 5G network in Switzerland with Swisscom.
Elisa has been a forerunner in developing roaming services for its customers and it has the widest 4G coverage abroad compared to other Finnish operators. When traveling abroad, customers use the network of Elisa’s partner operators, with a customer friendly price agreed with Elisa and the local operator.
– We were amongst the first countries to start building 5G networks in Finland. Now that Swisscom has opened their 5G network, we are more than happy to be able to provide the ultrafast 5G to our consumer and corporate customers travelling to Switzerland, Elisa’s Director, Consumer Handset Subscriptions Jan Virkki tells.
Swisscom’s 5G network will cover 90% of the population by the end of this year. Currently, the network works in more than 100 cities and villages.
– We want to offer our customers the best network – both in Switzerland and abroad. So we are proud to be one of the world’s first providers to offer 5G abroad. Finland leads the field in Europe together with Switzerland, says Dirk Wierzbitzki, Head of Product and Marketing in Swisscom.
In Switzerland Elisa provides its customers a service called Reissunetti, where a customer can purchase 1 Gt of data with a fixed price of 19,90€.
