According to the report, the new iPhone will be the first update to the iPhone SE model in two years and will feature a faster A-series chip, likely the A15, and 5G technology. It is also expected to include an improved camera.

The ‌iPad Air‌ will also feature an updated A-series chip and 5G connectivity, but it too is expected to feature no major design changes. At least one new Mac with Apple-designed chips could be introduced at the event, and prior rumors have suggested that this might be the Mac mini.

iOS 15.4 may be tied to the March event and the new devices, so we can expect to see the update launch in the first half of March.

Apple in October announced two new MacBook Pro models that run on more powerful in-house chips.

With the expected launch still more than a month away, Apple’s plans may change in the face of production delays or other changes, the report added.

The company did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Cupertino, California-based Apple is overcoming the costly global shortage in computer chips and posted record sales over the holiday quarter in January, beating profit estimates and forecasting that its shortfall is narrowing.

Apple in October 2020 unveiled the iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max, the first iPhones to support 5G connectivity, and then followed them up with the iPhone 13 models. All of Apple’s ‌iPhone 12‌ and ‌iPhone 13‌ models support 5G networks, and the 5G modems in the devices work with both mmWave and Sub-6GHz 5G, which are the two types of 5G.

Apple is working on creating its own modem chips that are designed in-house, much like the Apple silicon and A-series chips, which will allow the company to reduce its reliance on modem chip vendors.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently said that Apple could transition to its own 5G modems as early as 2023. Once Apple comes out with its own modem designs, it will no longer need Qualcomm. 2023 is the “earliest” date, however, so the timeline could change.
