Orange Romania starts offering eSIM

Orange launched in Romania the eSIM technology, which allows users to connect to the operator’s network without having a physical SIM card.
Users will also be able to install multiple phone numbers on a single mobile device, allowing them to be used alternately depending on context and needs.

“The new technology is a first for Romania, Orange being the first mobile operator to offer its customers the benefits of eSIM anticipating a new evolution of the technology that will in future open the connectivity for both smart tablets and smartphones as well as the ecosystem of connected objects “said Yves Martin, Orange Chief Marketing Officer.

To enable an eSIM on a compatible device, customers only need to go to the nearest Orange store and request an eSIM activation code. ESIM technology is available for those who want to activate a new subscription as well as for existing customers who want to switch from SIM card to eSIM.

In Orange stores, customers will have dedicated support for eSIM activation. Thus, the first activation will be free for both residential and business customers, and the following activations will be priced according to the changed policy of eSIM.

End-users will also be able to install multiple phone numbers on one mobile device, allowing these to be used alternately depending on context and needs. With features like that, eSIM can be a great help in using smartphones for roaming services.
Initially, eSIM is available for Apple iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR phones.
