WiFi Hotspot Saves Roaming Costs austrian airlines inflight
Although the roaming fee regulation has already entered into force within the EU, there are huge costs for using the mobile Internet outside the European Union, including Switzerland. In addition, domestic providers already offer national-only rates, where roaming is even blocked. Why should customers who travel on average one week a year pay more expensive tariffs including EU roaming for the whole year?
The “Flink Mobile WiFi Hotspot”, offered on board Austrian Airlines, is available for 29 euros in the on-board duty-free magazine including three 24-hour day passes (updated list of countries). All aircraft on non-EU routes have hotspots for rent.
Each additional 24-hour day pass for rented hotspots costs € 8.90. Passengers can also decide after the three-day rent to buy the hotspot for an additional 99 euros. For purchased hotspots, the future 24-hour day passes are offered for just € 5.90.
Using the Mobile WiFi Hotspot is easy: users only need the device (124 mm high, 68 mm wide and 12 mm thick) switch on, register and finally connect the desired WLAN-enabled devices to the hotspot via WLAN.
