The Best Video/Online Game Destinations

We’ve become accustomed to visiting a few specific locations when we go to the movies or watch our favorite TV shows. We’ve been to Central Park in New York City with Elf, the Ghostbusters, and John Wick. We were transported to Piccadilly Circus in London with Harry Potter, The Dark Knight, and Bridget Jones. Some locations are visited so often, that we feel like we’ve been there when, in reality, we didn’t move from the sofa. Yet locations used in video and online games aren’t as obviously listed or ubiquitous. Best Online Game Destinations

While they’re not as omnipresent as the movie and TV locations, these are the destinations that appear to be most prevalent in inspiring game developers. Best Online Game Destinations

MEXICO

Mexican customs and culture provide game developers with great content to get their teeth into, and the variety of different locations within the country make it an appealing destination. Playground Games offers 11 stunning biomes, including the urban playground of Guanajuato to the Arid Hills of Mexico in Forza Horizon 5. The original Red Dead Redemption allowed us to venture on horseback throughout Northern Mexico, and those playing as Lara Croft would also often find themselves in the Central American hotspot. Dia de Los Muertos or The Day of the Dead has often been featured in games, and the adventure game Grim Fandango by LucasArts was based around this traditional holiday.

EGYPT

Tomb Raider is the obvious title that takes us to the land of pharaohs. Lara Croft couldn’t find a better scene for battling diabolical monsters and unearthing ancient treasures, but it’s also proved a useful venue for many other less conspicuous games. Scroll through the many games available at the new Playerz Casino in India and you’ll see that ancient Egypt is an overwhelming influence in the development of casino slot games and online live dealer games. So much so, that due to the number of slots created around ancient Egypt and its mysteries, it probably features more online games than any other country. Why Cleopatra, hieroglyphics, and sphinxes are suited to these games is something of a mystery, but ancient Greece gets identical treatment. Egyptian temples have also appeared in games such as GoldenEye and missions in Cairo have appeared in shooting games such as Call of Duty.

JAPAN Best Online Game Destinations

Japan has contributed considerably to the video game industry, so it’s no surprise that it is the location for a number of memorable titles. The adventure game Katamari Damacy Reroll is perhaps best at highlighting modern-day Japan’s quirkiness, wackiness, and playful spirit.

Although Japan is now acclaimed for its robotics and hi-tech toilets, Feudal Japan presents a perfect backdrop for the incredible open world of Ghost of Tsushima, while the challenging Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is set in a slightly later period. Both of these games draw on the incredible countryside and fascinating culture and rituals of Japan to create wonderful and startling gaming experiences. There are numerous other games that focus on different areas, such as titles based on the Yakuza gang life, but the Samurai games are the standouts for transporting you to Japan.

When researched meticulously and correctly, games give us the opportunity to explore different locations during any time period and genuinely get a feel for the place. These are three of the most frequently used locations that we love, but we look forward to visiting other destinations in the future.
