ASUS and GoPro Simplify 360° Video Editing for Creators

ASUS has announced a new partnership with GoPro that’s set to make 360° video production a lot smoother. The collaboration marries GoPro’s capture technology with ASUS ProArt’s creator-first hardware and software, aiming to reduce workflow headaches and give storytellers more time to create instead of troubleshooting.

StoryCube: The First Windows App with GoPro Cloud Support

At the heart of this partnership is StoryCube — ASUS’s own AI-powered content management solution. It’s the first Windows application that works seamlessly with GoPro Cloud and 360° media, giving creators a way to view, download, and organize their GoPro footage directly on a laptop.

Native .360 files can be previewed, MAX and MAX2 footage can be reframed with GoPro Player, and from there it’s just drag-and-drop into editing suites like Adobe Premiere Pro or even CapCut (which comes pre-bundled with ProArt laptops).

Smarter Search with GoPro-Trained AI

What sets StoryCube apart is its AI smarts. The system automatically categorizes scenes — think surfing, biking, or snowboarding — and lets users search by activity, time, device, or GPS location. Importantly, the AI has been trained specifically on GoPro imagery, which makes it far more accurate for action-heavy content than generic solutions. The pitch here is clear: less file chaos, more creative flow.

Sweetener: Free GoPro Cloud for ASUS Buyers

To sweeten the deal, ASUS is bundling a complimentary GoPro Premium+ subscription. ProArt laptop buyers get six months of unlimited GoPro Cloud storage, while Zenbook and Vivobook buyers get three. For frequent GoPro shooters, that’s a significant bonus given how quickly 8K and 360° footage eats through storage.

ProArt P16: Built for 8K and Beyond

The hardware piece of the puzzle is the new ProArt P16 — ASUS’s flagship creator laptop, designed to push GoPro’s True 8K MAX2 footage to its limits. Equipped with up to a 50 TOPS AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, it handles real-time previews at resolutions up to 16K and delivers AI-powered stitching, reframing, and upscaling without breaking a sweat.

Other creator-focused specs include dual AV1 encoders, support for 10-bit 4:2:2 color, AI tools for stabilization and interpolation, and buttery smooth playback at both 4K and 8K. The ASUS Lumina Pro OLED display backs it all up with 1600 nits peak brightness, a 120Hz variable refresh rate, and 65% fewer reflections — a serious screen for serious work.

Why This Matters in the Bigger Picture

This ASUS–GoPro tie-up isn’t happening in a vacuum. The demand for immersive video is booming, with global 360° video market revenues projected to reach over $5 billion by 2030, according to Allied Market Research. Competitors like Apple (with Vision Pro and ProRes workflows), Meta (pushing VR-native video), and even Insta360 (with its growing ecosystem of modular action cameras and editing apps) are already carving out their territory.

What makes ASUS and GoPro’s move notable is the integration on the Windows side — a space traditionally fragmented compared to Apple’s tightly controlled hardware-software ecosystem. By offering a dedicated app (StoryCube) trained specifically for GoPro content, ASUS is attempting to give creators the kind of frictionless experience they’ve come to expect from Cupertino’s ecosystem, but without forcing them to leave Windows. 360° video editing

For creators, especially those working in 360° and immersive storytelling, this collaboration could signal a shift toward more specialized, hardware-optimized workflows. If ASUS and GoPro can keep the integration tight — and perhaps expand it to VR and AR pipelines — this partnership might be one of the first to seriously challenge Apple’s dominance in creator-first computing.
