More details: austria roaming services

  • Reductions in data roaming : there was a non-roaming tariff in early 2017, and in June 2017 there were eight prepaid card rates (T-Mobile, tele.ring and S-Budget) on the market, which excluded data roaming. This year there are already 29 different tariffs, where consumers draw no or only a limited advantage from “Roam like at home”, because roaming services are included in their tariff not at all or only partially. They can not be purchased as an additional option.
  • Most prepaid cards are without roaming : 22 of a total of 60 prepaid cards checked restrict roaming. In other words: 22 of the 29 roaming-restricted tariffs are prepaid cards. But even with seven tariffs there is no possibility to use roaming without restrictions.
  • Radio silence abroad: Many vendors have decided to put an end to roaming, at least with regard to some of their tariffs: A1, T-Mobile, Three, bob, yess, tele.ring, S-Budget, George, wowww !, eety , yooopi !. For some providers, all prepaid rates are subject to roaming restrictions: S-Budget, tele.ring and T-Mobile. Relevant informations can be found on the homepage and in the datasheet.

Since roaming costs have fallen,  data usage increased by 388 per cent following the expiration of additional roaming costs (3rd quarter 2016 to 3rd quarter 2017). More calls were made in other EU countries – the roaming minutes increased from 88 to almost 140 million minutes (an increase of 58 percent).
