Vodafone Spain Launches ‘Always On’ eSIM Backup to Guarantee Business Continuity

Vodafone Business introduces the Vodafone Always On service, which provides backup lines via eSIM, ready to be used in the event of a primary carrier outage or lack of coverage in key business areas. This solution is aimed at companies that require uninterrupted operational continuity and cannot afford to be left without connectivity, even temporarily. Companies with critical personnel, such as key executives, emergency teams, mobile salespeople, or remote workers, need a reliable contingency plan for incidents with their primary carrier, cyberattacks, or network outages. eSIM backup for business

With this initiative, customers can install a Vodafone eSIM on their devices and keep it dormant for a minimal cost (€1/month), without affecting their normal operations. This way, if the primary carrier experiences a service outage or coverage is poor, the backup line can be activated to maintain connectivity. This proposal makes even more sense considering that, according to independent studies, Vodafone’s network was the one that best responded to the April 28th power outage, reaffirming its reliability in critical times.

“We want to offer businesses a simple, effective, and affordable solution to guarantee their connectivity at all times, even if their main operator fails. It’s also an open door for them to see for themselves the quality of our network. It’s not just about offering support, but about offering trust,”

emphasizes Jesús Suso, director of Vodafone Business.

With this proposal, Vodafone Business strengthens its position as a technological ally for businesses, anticipating the risks of disconnection and guaranteeing operational continuity under any circumstances.

Pricing Plans

The Vodafone Always On service has a €5 setup fee and a €1 monthly maintenance fee for accessing the service. The service has two pricing plans that are activated only upon first use, allowing customers to select the one that best suits their needs:

  • Always On 12GB Plan: A monthly usage fee of €12 includes 12GB and 100 minutes of national calls per month.
  • Always On Unlimited Plan: A monthly usage fee of €20 includes unlimited data and 500 minutes of national calls per month.

In addition, customers who activate the service will enjoy the first month’s usage fee completely free.

Final thoughts about Vodafone Spain eSIM backup for business

In an increasingly digital and mobile-first business world, Vodafone’s Always On service reflects a broader industry shift toward proactive connectivity redundancy, with eSIM technology emerging as the most agile and scalable solution. While providers like Telefónica’s Movistar and Orange Business have dabbled in multi-network failover or IoT-focused eSIMs, Vodafone is among the first in Europe to target B2B contingency use cases this directly and accessibly — both in pricing and ease of activation.

According to GSMA Intelligence, eSIM adoption among businesses is expected to surpass 50% by 2027, driven by demand for remote device management, security, and business continuity. Vodafone’s model — keeping the eSIM dormant at a minimal cost until needed — aligns perfectly with this trend, especially as cyberattacks and infrastructure outages (such as the major European incident on April 28th) become more frequent.

In contrast to traditional dual-SIM offerings, which require manual swapping or complex MDM setups, Vodafone’s Always On service provides a plug-and-play resilience layer for companies of all sizes. It’s a step beyond simple connectivity: it’s a strategic positioning as a reliable network-of-last-resort, at a time when even a few minutes of downtime can cost businesses thousands.
