Vodafone Spain offers Alexa-based calls via Echo speakers

Vodafone Spain announced the integration of its ‘OneNumber’ calling service with the Alexa voice assistant, becoming the first Spanish operator to offer its customers the possibility of making and receiving phone calls via their Amazon Echo smart speakers and displays. vodafone spain alexa

Customers simply have to link their existing mobile phone number to their Alexa account via the Alexa app to receive hands-free calls directly on their Echo devices just as they’d use their regular phones, said the company.  vodafone spain alexa

Vodafone reports that its operator is the first to enable calls through Amazon Echo devices with Alexa, although it is required before having contracted the OneNumber service. Thanks to this OneNumber we can register our virtual phone number in the Alexa device, the Amazon Echo, in order to make calls.

The procedure, if we already have Vodafone OneNumber (a service that will cost us 1 euro / month (there is a promotion) in addition to our contracted rate) is to go to the Amazon Alexa app. There we go to the ” More” section, then to ” Settings ” and then to ” Communication” . There we can add our phone number to Amazon Echo and make calls from it.

The good thing about this functionality is that by assigning our virtualized phone number to the Amazon Echo, we can make calls from the physical assistant without having the phone turned on . Vodafone indicates that although “Vodafone OneNumber with Alexa” costs 1 euro / month, current customers can enjoy a launch promotion at no cost.

Thus, “Vodafone OneNumber with Alexa” will have a zero cost until December 31 of this year 2020. From then on, the cost of the service will come into effect, already billed for the first time at the end of next January.
