Truphone Announces MVNO Partnership Agreement with BT Wholesale
With the five-year agreement in place, Truphone customers will have access to EE’s leading geographic reach. This was demonstrated by Ofcom’s most recent Connected Nations report which showed EE covers more than 86 per cent of the UK landmass with 4G coverage.
That’s 2,500 square miles more than its nearest competitor. EE, part of BT Group, also continues to be the UK’s leading mobile network operator in terms of network performance, recently winning “best network in the UK” for the 17th consecutive time with the UK’s best 4G and 5G network, according to RootMetrics.
EE’s 5G network is in more places than any other network in the UK with the ambition to offer 5G everywhere in the UK by 2028.
Alex Tempest, Managing Director, BT Wholesale said: “This new agreement is great news for Truphone customers, who will soon be able to benefit from data speeds more than twice as fast as any other network. Alongside Truphone’s success in Enterprise mobile, we have been particularly impressed with Truphone’s capability and ambitions in IoT. Customers have an ever-increasing focus on network experience and we’re proud that Truphone has recognised the value of our network and our ongoing investment as we continue with plans to provide 5G everywhere in the UK by 2028”
With this powerful new partnership in place, Truphone customers will soon see even faster connectivity across even more locations, with greater network performance than ever. truphone bt
As eSIM demand surges, Truphone once again listed in top three global players
The latest figures from Counterpoint Research have shown that more than one billion eSIM (eUICC- and iUICC-based) capable devices have been shipped cumulatively to date.
To comprehend just how quickly eSIM usage is growing, it is perhaps useful to remind ourselves that Apple only launched its first eSIM enabled iPhone in September 2018. The first tech giant to do so. This subsequently sparked widespread influence on the consumer device market, with eSIM adoption snowballing with all major manufacturers, including support, since then.
And the numbers show no sign of abating. In fact, uptake in eSIM use is set to grow across a gamut of connected devices over the next decade, expanding well beyond the realm of consumer devices and into just about every industry that requires a cellular connection.
