What makes the new travel insurance special is that the insurance coverage applies to the customer as soon as a person goes on a trip and his or her mobile phone switches to the mobile network of a foreign country.

According to Maksim Melamed, Telia’s head of financing and value-added services, nothing similar has been offered in Estonia before. “The customer pays nothing when subscribing to the service and the daily insurance charge only applies if the customer is traveling. So you don’t have to re-formalize your insurance policy before each trip, as travel insurance is always in the background and automatically activated when traveling abroad, ”Melamed explained.

If the customer does not wish to use the insurance cover on a trip, the service can be temporarily suspended via SMS (without giving up the service itself) and the insurance cover will be reactivated on the next trip.

On the other hand, fresh travel insurance offers a comprehensive insurance cover against various risks, including travel and luggage insurance, accident and medical insurance, and liability insurance. In addition, the insurance covers, for example, risks of downhill skiing and instructor diving and extends to family members traveling with the policyholder.

According to Maksim Melamed, Telia Travel Insurance is suitable for both long and short holiday and business trips. “We see the people who have had to buy a separate insurance policy or an annual policy for each trip, without knowing how much they actually have to travel each year.”

The daily price of Telia Travel Insurance is EUR 2.49 and the service is available to contract customers of Telia and Dili mobile services. If a customer consumes insurance for more than 30 days a year (or € 75), they will be able to use travel insurance for the remainder of the year free of charge.

The new service is insured by Seesam Insurance AS Lithuanian branch and Telia is providing the service in cooperation with the insurance broker EDRAUDA UADBB Estonian branch.
