Danish companies with IoT ambitions outside the country’s borders now have better opportunities with Telenor as a network partner, after the telecommunications company has entered into a number of new, large roaming agreements in Germany, the United Kingdom and the USA, among others.

The roaming agreements are made on the network technology NB-IoT (narrowband) and increase the possibilities of using the technology across borders.

Important agreements
The network is especially aimed at small battery-powered devices, which are increasingly used within IoT. It is especially good for use cases where data volume is low and where fast response times are not paramount.

These are some important agreements, because they mean that our IoT customers can safely and simply send their devices out into the world without fear of losing the connection, says Jan Rasmussen, business manager at Telenor.

NB-IoT technology is used, among other things, by the Danish company Aurocon, which is based in Aars in Vesthimmerland.

The North Jutland company has developed an IoT-based rat trap that, with smart sensors and data collection, fights pests without the use of poison.

For us, it is essential to have access to NB-IoT also abroad, because we invest heavily in exporting our solutions. That is why it is absolutely crucial for us that our network partner allows for effective roaming agreements across national borders, says Preben Asp, director at Aurocon, which delivers traps to the whole world.

Roaming spreads
With the latest agreements with the foreign providers Vodafone and AT&T, Telenor has now rounded up more than 400 roaming agreements around the world across all types of networks.

We can see that the demand is there from a wide range of business customers working with innovative, digital solutions. IoT is well on its way to becoming a serious competitive parameter in relation to creating success for many companies in the export markets, so it is a very important business area for us, says Jan Rasmussen from Telenor. telenor iot roaming
