Tele2 recorded a significant increase in customer activity in international roaming this summer. The total volume of Internet traffic on trips abroad compared to the same period last year increased by more than 7 times.

This is due to the large-scale expansion of the geography of the option “Unlimited Internet Abroad”: for June-August of 2018 the operator increased the list of countries of service from 54 to 89. Now the option is available both on demanded destinations for leisure and business trips, and in exotic countries Caribbean.

The service turned out to be popular among Tele2 subscribers: in June-August 2018, it was connected by hundreds of thousands of customers. The largest number of gigabytes downloaded by users in Turkey, Italy and Spain.

The subscription fee for the option is 350 rubles per day and is debited from the client’s account only in the case of actual access to the network. If the client does not use the Internet abroad or is located in Russia, the service fee is not charged. Connection option for free.

The first in the list of countries for summer holidays is Turkey. On the second and third positions are located Ukraine and Belarus.

The most exotic destinations were Bermuda, Burundi, Zambia, Montserrat, Cook Islands, Saint Lucia, South Sudan and Jamaica.

The main sporting event of the summer and incoming roaming

This summer, the Tele2 network has twice as many visitors from other countries than a year earlier. The largest influx of foreign subscribers this year was from China. In the second place in terms of the number of registered tourists were from the United States, the third place was taken by Kazakhstan.

Roaming activity of foreign tourists in Russia showed an increase in all directions. The number of minutes spoken out increased by almost 50% year-on-year. But travelers were even more willing to use the mobile Internet – in the summer of 2018, the Internet traffic in guest roaming increased several times.

The list of leading countries in terms of the volume of downloaded traffic for June-August 2018 coincides with the rating of countries that showed the greatest activity in guest roaming during the main sports event of the summer. The first position in the ranking is Argentina, followed by China and the United States.

The most active consumers of data services – Argentines – showed an increase in traffic volume by year to year by 6,100 times. At the same time, the number of tourists from this country who registered with the Tele2 network has increased 161 times. The leaders of last year’s rating of China and the US also showed a significant increase in the amount of downloaded megabytes compared to last year: 3 and 2 times respectively. The number of subscribers from both countries, registered in the Tele2 network in June-August 2018, doubled.

Domestic tourism without borders

The consumption of communication services while traveling in Russia continues to gain momentum. So, the voice traffic year by year grew by 21%. Tele2 customers from Moscow turned out to be the most sociable – they talked about 76% more minutes in traveling around Russia than a year earlier. Subscribers from KhMAO, Salekhard, Chelyabinsk and St. Petersburg follow in the rating – on average, their voice activity has increased by two thirds.

In June-August of this year, Tele2 clients talked for the most minutes in Krasnodar, Moscow and St. Petersburg. Moscow’s Tele2 subscribers most actively used voice communication in Krasnodar, Vladimir and Tula. Petersburgers talked the most minutes, while in Krasnodar, Veliky Novgorod and Moscow. In turn, subscribers from Krasnodar most often traveled to Rostov-on-Don, Moscow and St. Petersburg.

In April, Tele2 launched an updated tariff line “My Tele2”. The users of the line do not pay for long-distance communication: all “My Tele2” tariffs provide unlimited calls to Tele2 numbers in any region of Russia that do not consume the main package of minutes. Intranet roaming has been canceled on the new lineup since launch. Mobile Internet has been charged for many years, as in the home region, on all Tele2 tariffs.

In August 2018, the operator completed the abolition of intranet roaming on all archived tariff plans. Now, on all Tele2 tariffs, incoming calls on trips around Russia are free of charge, and in the region of your stay the conditions of your home region apply.
